Interested in becoming an Allenspark Volunteer Firefighter?
Allenspark Fire Protection District is a Special District, staffed entirely by volunteers. Our volunteers live in the district. Active volunteers respond to at least 20% of the calls for the year and attend at least 36 hours of training per year.
Allenspark firefighters respond to Structure, Vehicle and Wildland Fires, Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue, Hazardous Materials, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Fire and Smoke Alarms, Illegal/Unattended Campfires, Lift Assists, Smoke Reports and Mutual Aid to neighboring agencies. Firefighters are expected to be physically and mentally equipped to handle the demands of emergency response. In addition, volunteers perform Camp Inspections, Apparatus, Equipment and Station Maintenance, Particpate in the Open House and 4th of July Parade as well as Stand By Assistance at Community Events.
All volunteers must have a valid Colorado driver's license. Potential volunteers will fill out a membership application and will undergo a criminal background check.
Fire Training is held on the second Wednesday of the month at 19:00 at Station One, 14861 Highway 7, Allenspark, CO.
Medical Training is held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 19:00 at Station One.
If you are interested in volunteering with Allenspark Fire, you are welcome to attend training, meet the crew and see how it goes.

In exchange for all these hours (and more that is not listed), volunteers get $10 per emergency call, some nice clothes as well as Personal Protective Gear (which technically belongs to the department). The Chiefs, the Fleet Manager, Administration, Bookkeeper and Board Secretary receive nominal pay for their time. The payments that these seven individuals receive represents 20% of the operating budget or 12.8% of the entire budget (which includes Capital purchases).
There are few other (if any) volunteer jobs that ask so much. Because of this, we humbly hope that you will respect what our firefighters do for our community. Please don’t call any individual firefighter for help (instead call 911). If they come to your home without a 911 incident, they are not covered by AFPD workers’ compensation insurance and they don’t receive the $10 per call.
We thank you for your support!
